2020 Kelly Post Boys Club Team Tryouts

Kelly Post Club Team Tryouts

Due to the challenges created by COVID-19, Kelly Post Boys Lacrosse is altering its club team tryout plan for 2020.

While traditionally we would have used August to form our teams for the 2021 season by having open tryouts for all interested players, we feel as though that model would be unfair to the boys who had their entire season taken away from them this spring.

However, we do know that some players may not return to our teams, so we will have select opportunities for particular players on particular teams.

Our current plan is to offer individual or very small sided workouts for boys who fill spots on particular teams.  Please register if you are interested in being part of that process.

We will be forming teams at:

  • 2030 (entire team will be new)
  • 2029 (one existing, one brand new)
  • 2028 (two existing)
  • 2027 (one existing, would consider a second team)
  • 2026 (two existing)
  • 2025 (one existing, would consider a second team)
  • 2024 (one existing)

Tryouts for these teams will be coordinated with the head coach of each team.  Please complete this registration and then you will hear from coaches on the plan for your son.

We hope to complete this process in the next few weeks.

Current KP club players should fill out this registration, but you will not be asked to try out.  You will be guaranteed a spot on a team within the KP program, but we cannot guarantee you will be placed on the same team, as we expect some churn between our A and B teams.

Our teams offer:

  • Participation in Howard County club lacrosse league
  • Participation in St. Pauls/Koopers Club league or MYLA Club league
  • Participation in multiple pre-season and post-season club tournaments
  • Dedicated program goalie coach with goalie-specific training regimen
  • Dedicated program face-off coach
  • Dedicated stick-skills instructor to work individually with players throughout the program
  • All coaches are trained in concussion identification and recovery protocols
  • All coaches certified by the American Sports Education Program in coaching youth sports
  • Priority for turf practices
  • Outdoor fall skills sessions
  • Indoor winter skills sessions
  • Opportunities for fall play, both indoor and outdoor

For those who prefer traditional rec lacrosse, Kelly Post is continuing to enhance those programs as well.  Tryouts for our rec teams will take place over the winter.  Those who are not chosen for club teams will be placed on rec teams.  Everyone will have a chance to play through our program.
